Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and grey…

… Look out on a summer’s day

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.

Shadows on the hills

Sketch the trees and the daffodils

Catch the breeze and the winter chills

In colors on the snowy linen land.

I’m not an image person, but sometimes I wish I was. Sometimes I wanna merge images and make changes, then I get stuck. I have no clue. I tried to use The Gimp a couple of times, but it’s interface is quite weirdo. About two years ago when I was on Windoze, I didn’t know how to use Photoshop. So basically, I dunno whatever the deal is with image manipulation.

When I need to resize I use digiKam (from the name you can obviously guess it’s a software to import files from a digital camera), thanks to Jes Hall for the tutorial which appeared in Tux Magazine. Occationally, I also use gThumb.

But lately, this other program called Krita, which is a painting and image editing application for the KOffice suite, has impressed me quite a lot.

However, since I’m still on KOffice version 1.4, I don’t have the documentation of Krita. I guess it didn’t have one when it was released. Though, I just checked the Web site and the documentation in there, however, it says it’s a work in progress. Anyhow, I’d go through it as soon as I’m done with this thing I need to submit in a couple of days.

See, I’m image program stupid. I need to learn from A to Z. And hey, maybe someday I can merge images and come up with stuff like my header picture, which was made by a kid named Jo.

Adios!!

Worry Worry…

Eris S. Raymond aka ESR is the one who came up with the term Open Source. Eventhough, RMS (Richard M. Stallman) doesn’t get along with the term too well, still there’s no denying Open Source is the term which got Free Software to where it is today, in a way (debatable though). A very good marketing term for sure! Anyhow, so why all of sudden I mention this? Well the pointer is below…

lol! Well yeah, that sure is a Microsoft’s application EULA (end user license agreement).

“… now, when Microsoft claims open source is inferior or not innovative enough or dangerous to incorporate in your products or whatever the FUD is this week, I get to laugh and point. Hypocrites. Losers. You have refuted yourselves.”

…says ESR at his blog post. Got the pointer from this Newsforge.com article. Hiya Billy! In whose court is the ball now? Adios!

Uptight…

Been a long time since I rock n’ rolled.

Been a long time since I did the stroll.

Those are two of my favorite lines of all times, which have somehow stuck to me like crazy. Another chorus that kinda goes like my usual day is:

Uptight, I’m a nag with a gun yeah

All night, suicide’s last call

I’ve been uptight all night

I’m a son of a gun

Tho, I’m no ‘son of a gun’. Wish I was! Anyway, that’s Green Day in their album called Nimrod. I’ve never been a dedicated fan of the whole punk cult. But I think it’s really refreshing and cheers you up in a way. Tho, most of the lyrics are usually about ‘how I’m so pissed of with the xyz or …’, but still I just enjoy the noise and it’s kinda refreshing being so simple.

Many complain how punk is basically just 2/3-chord music. But what the hell? Just that doesn’t make it any worse. I mean I’d rather listen to Dave Murrey than Joe Satriani. I don’t get all that complexity of playing guitar over no big deal.

Ever since I really got stuck on the kinda music I listen to, only Pink Floyd has managed to inspire me the most. See with Floyd, even the guitar solos make sense — rather than being a fast solo to fill the gap, they tend to go with the feel of the song. In my hay days, I’d have tried to explain that. But I don’t see or feel the need anymore. Like Lennon used to say, “If you don’t get that, you’re certainly not in the same wavelength.” Come to think about the ‘being in the wavelength’ part, it actually sounds kiddish. But then whatever it takes. You don’t need to explain everything in life.

Anyway, what’s a ‘big deal’ actually varies from one person to another. So basically, that Satriani comment was what I feel myself and not a general view. Like I get pissed off over what many might consider as ‘no big deal’. However, it is to me. Like I can’t take crap from people. A lot can get along just fine by ignoring it, I can’t. That’s a ‘big deal’ to me.

Anyway, somewhere along the line I forgot what I had in my mind to say. I needed to vent and so I did. Hey this is my site! I do whatever I want to in here.

So, things to learn in the next six months are: XHTML, CSS and lil bit of Perl. Also some Python, that is if I get the time. But the former three are a must considering I’ve been delaying it for years now. Somewhere along the line, if you’re like someone who can’t take crap from people, then you simply can’t be slacking anymore. You gotta stop right there, says the inner voice. lol!! Whatever that means, but makes sense.

Adios!!

What God Wants, God Gets, God Help Us All…

Moslem or Christian, Mullah or Pope
Preacher or poet, who was it wrote
Give any one species too much rope
And they’ll fuck it up

That’s what Roger Waters sings in Too Much Rope, a song in Amused To Death. I can’t say his words had left an impression on me when I was growing up. I was introduced to Roger when I’d already grown up — thanks to Robin, aka Heartmother. But his words have changed me in a certain way since then. It feels good to know that someone else out there also feels likewise. And it’s like all of sudden, u don’t feel like a misfit in the society anymore.

All my life I’ve met, or rather I’ve only made friends with, people who are non-practicing Hindus, Christians or Muslims. I try my best to stay away from religion or the religious-minded as much as possible. Being raised as a non-practicing Hindu — I like to call myself an atheist — I obviously don’t fit in, and I fear what if I offend the believers. So it’s a safe bet to stay away.

Like Daryl, this Irish Canadian dude, once said over an IM conversation, “All this war and hatred is just because of the religious bullshit.” That made much sense, considering the Afghan War had just started then, inflicted by 9/11. Or take any other fucking war out of history and it’s always got something to do with religion; tho the top bosses always see the moolah at the end of the rope. Religion has simply been a smokescreen to fool the plebs. Funny how people don’t see this, and swallow all the bullshit.

And the Germans killed the Jews
And the Jews killed the Arabs
And the Arabs killed the hostages
And that is the news
And is it any wonder
That the monkey’s confused

But then you’re often wrong in judging people. I used to fear that a conservative religious-minded is here to harm me — maybe I still do. But then this girl at work, who apparently is Catholic, believes in God, prays and stuff, could be just like the rest of us. It’s weird, but I guess some of them also feel as much insecure as we do. It’s just that the bastards for politicians we have spread a lot of bullshit in the name of religion, and you end up being alienated from a ‘harmless’ believer.

So, what’s the story morning glory? Nothing much, apart from it’s probably always gonna be the same. There will be the minority atheists and there will be the conservative religious-minded folks. And there will also be the all-important politicians who will take religion as their smokescreen for the moolah.

God Bless! Umm… wait a sec. No offence, but I guess ‘peace and love’ makes better sense, doesn’t it? Why can’t we all stick to that instead? Like this new Goan kid on the block Amanda says…

Sex n’ drugs! Rock n’ rave! Letz get smashed and misbehave! On speed n’ weed n’ wine n’ cheese! Letz get fucked and talk to trees! Life’s a trip n’ den u die. So fuck ‘em all n’ letz GET HIGH!!

Good one, eh? Adios!!

YouWhoo?

"I've been mad for fucking years,
absolutely years,
been over the edge for yonks,
been working me buns off for bands...

I've always been mad,
I know I've been mad,
like the most of us...
very hard to explain why you're mad,
even if you're not mad."
