A week of messing around with the Ubuntu Breezy Badger Preview version 5.10, I’m back to PCLinuxOS. Something about this operating system is really addictive. Probably it’s because it’s just so perfect for desktop use. You pretty much have all the software for home computing that you ever need. Even if previously it was just to avoid using a Windows I used a GNU/Linux operating system, with PCLinuxOS, it’s the ease of use and features that easily surpasses an XP’s. Meanwhile, I guess I’d keep the Ubuntu as the GNOME desktop for my experimentations.
Site update: I deleted the previous 5 or 6 posts, published thru Drivel (a blog posting client) while I was testing it on the Ubuntu Preview release. PCLinuxOS doesnt have this software in it’s repository, yet.
I listened to a lot of Coldplay last night and this afternoon… for the first time. Even tho I’ve seen a couple of their videos on TV, I didn’t have any of their albums. I liked what all I heard, unlike Travis which I had to shut after a couple of songs. Funny how Jo-so-fine said the same thing last night on how I might like Coldplay but not Travis… But I guess Ima check em out later sometime… to see what they are all about as well. Right now, my amaroK plays Patti Smith. Yea I only have her Horses, and I like it a lot!
Anyway I re-registered with Last.fm! I also updated this template with a link to my profile there. You might notice it in the right pane.
See what Last.Fm (powered by Audioscrobbler) basically does is, it exports each and every song I listen to in my mediaplayer (i.e. amaroK) to my home page (provided, of course I’m connected to the Internet). So anyone who’s curious what the hell I’m listening to or was listening to the last time, can check it out from this site… Pretty soon once the site gets sufficient information regarding what I listen to it’d arrange things around as my most played, favorites, and stuff like that.
However, the best part I liked is… unlike for other media players u have to download a plugin from their site and configure/install it to broadcast the song lists (or whatever they call it), amaroK has the thing inbuilt. So all I basically had to do was register my account and enter my user name and password in amaroK for it to start broadcasting the information.
Anyway, I gotta go… Adios!!
